Convoke
Keyword actions
Tap your creatures to help pay for the spell.
How it works
Convoke lets you tap untapped creatures as you cast the spell. Each creature you tap pays for {1} or for one mana of any color that creature is.
Tapping a creature for convoke isn't activating an ability and isn't affected by summoning sickness, so even a creature you played this turn can convoke.
Common confusions
“Convoking with a creature summoned this turn.”
Allowed. Convoke isn't a {T} ability, so summoning sickness doesn't matter — any untapped creature can be tapped.
“Paying a colored cost with convoke.”
A tapped creature can pay {1} regardless of color, but to pay a colored mana symbol the creature must be that color.
“Do tap-triggered abilities fire when I convoke?”
No. Tapping for convoke isn't paying a cost with the {T} symbol, so 'whenever this becomes tapped' style effects from the cost don't get triggered by convoke itself.
