Vigilance

Keyword abilities

Attacking doesn't cause this creature to tap.

How it works

A creature with vigilance doesn't tap when it attacks, so it stays untapped and available to block on opponents' turns.

Vigilance only affects the tapping that attacking would cause — it doesn't untap the creature or stop other effects from tapping it.

Common confusions

Does vigilance let a creature attack twice?

No. It can attack and remain untapped, letting it block afterward, but it still only attacks once per combat.

An effect taps the vigilance creature.

Vigilance doesn't prevent tapping from other sources (e.g., an opponent's 'tap target creature').
